Metal Recycling | the facts
In the UK metal recycling
ia an efficient, well established industry, processing
15 million tonnes of essential secondary raw material
for industry every year. It makes a substantial
contribution ti UK international trade figures.
It makes a greater contribution than any other
industry to meeting European targets for recycling
products, such as cars, cans and electrical goods
Using recycled materials makes high quality metals;
and at the same time reduces the need to mine
natural resources, saves energy and reduces pollution.

Craddocks commitment
At Craddock Metal Recycling,
we are only too aware of the environmental challenges
facing our business.
Protection of the environment and the prevention
of pollution are essential considerations for
a company whose core activities benefit the environment
by reducing the impacts of mining and the energy-intensive
refining of metal ores, conserving natural resources
and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Using recycled metal saves up to 74% energy and
40% water consumption, reduces air pollution by
about 86% and water pollution by 76%.
We consider our environmental responsibility to
be a fundamental priority and ensure that all
our policies and procedures are set-up to enable
us to offer the most environmentally sound and
efficient processing of all our waste metal.
On the 2 January 2007 the UK Waste Electrical
and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations came
into force. WEEE is a new piece of producer responsibility
legislation, which aims to reduce the amount of
electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) ending
up in landfill. Instead the regulations require
the collection, treatment, recycling and environmentally
sound disposal of WEEE. The regulations affect
all brand owners, importers and distributors or
retailers of EEE.
At Craddock Metal Recycling we can safely and
securely store WEEE under our para 50 licence
issued by the environment agency.
