Reason to Scrap Your Car
Cars are something a large majority of us rely on and, sometimes, it’s just better to accept that your vehicle is destined for the scrap heap. In many cases, a car can last for years and years – providing the maintenance and TLC is kept on top of – however, there comes a point in every car’s life when it’s destined to be recycled.
Here at Craddock Metal Recycling Limited, we are scrap car specialists with over 75 years of experience in the industry, which we use to help you understand when your car is ready to scrap below.
When a car begins to become a financial burden, it’s often a sign that it’s time to move it along to a scrapyard – especially if there was little value in the vehicle to begin with. Things to look out for are increased maintenance and repair bills – which crop up more and more often – as well as increased fuel consumption. Once these signs start to show, you should question whether your car should be scrapped.
Unsafe or Written Off
Sometimes accidents happen and the consequence of this can be that your car needs to be taken to scrap. Risking the lives of yourself and your family/friends, not to mention other road users, is never worth saving some money on a new car when yours is unsafe.
What’s more, cars are written off for a reason and that is usually that the cost of repair supercedes the cost of the car itself or reaches a high percentage of that total cost. At this point, it’s usually very difficult to sell your vehicle and may be easier to simply scrap it.
No Longer Needed
While you may have needed a car in the past, it might be your reality now that you no longer need the services of a vehicle. Whether this is because your new public transport links are excellent, you got a new car, or you planned to only use the vehicle as a ‘stop-gap’ then it might be time to look to for the right scrap dealer to dispose of your car responsibly.
While this is not necessarily a reason alone, once you have weighed up the pros and cons of the different ways to get rid of your car, scrapping it might simply be the best offer and the quickest. Hassle is not something you want when changing car or getting in some extra cash, so be sued to consider scrapping it.
Keep in mind, though, that a scrap metal dealer should not offer you actual cash for your scrap car because this is now illegal. An Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) will pay you via bank transfer or cheque.
Quick and Hassle-Free
Naturally, these aren’t the only reasons that you might want to scrap your car. Things like low part-exchange prices, hassle, a non-runner, and MOT/tax running out soon are all further reasons to scrap your car rather than attempting to sell. The key is to make the right decision for you and go in that direction.
